el cerrito 53
El Cerrito 53 utilizes conceptually diagonal hazard zones—efficiently providing access to the areas it protects. The apparatus bay opens southwest over the hills of El Cerrito while the drone landing platforms orient northeast toward Tilden Park. A central void serves both as a circulation core and an emergency response spine, integrating a central slide for rapid deployment and providing visibility between floors. A structural beam-grid spans the open, column-free middle zone, and is attached to the side wall+slab elements via pinned connections. Hybrid integrated systems, including passive cross-ventilation and mechanical systems optimize comfort and performance.
